Latest Updates from Our Project:

Two Surveys? TWO??
4 days ago – Fri, Sep 11, 2026 at 11:42:41 AM

Ahoy!

Zac here. First up, the Backerkit Pledge Manager is now live! You should have received an email to the address that you pledged to this Kickstarter with.

Secondly:

TL;DR: We have a big Limithron/Pirate Borg Community Survey that we'd love for you all to fill out, and there are random prizes for participants!

We want Patrons, Backers, and everyone else who would consider themselves part of our community to participate.

SURVEY LINK: https://forms.gle/REEpkYMc4BxqDTJb6

We've put together a big survey about the Patreon, future battle maps, Pirate Borg, The Dark Caribbean, the Ship of the Dead podcast, and more! As a "thank you" for your time, we will be giving out the following FREE prizes to random survey participants:

  • Free copies of Parrot Borg (early!)
  • Set of Pirate Borg hard-edged resin dice (your choice of color)
  • Year of access to the Patreon (starts after we switch billing methods)

There are a lot of questions at the start of the survey that are about the Patreon, so if that's not something you muck with, you can skip those questions if you want...but we'd also love to hear your thoughts over there!

Drawing winners will be announced in the Discord next week and emailed directly.

Missing Backerkit Surveys

If you can't find your Pledge Manager survey when you login into Backerkit, here are some things to try:

  • Search your email for "Response Needed — Get your reward for Limithron's Map Collection", or
  • Check your login, some folks end up with two different Backerkit email profiles, or
  • If you absolutely can’t find your survey, you can request it directly: pirate-map-collection.backerkit.com, or
  • If all of those fail, you can hit me up ([email protected]), giving me your name and Backer Number, and I'll help if I can.

If you still want to get in on the Kickstarter: pre-order everything here.

Early-Bird & Boarding Party Rewards

If you think your Pledge Manager is missing the compass rose coin or patch for being a Boarding Party backer or Early-Bird backer (respectively), fill out this form, and I'll get it sorted within a few days.

Thanks for your time!

September Update | Pledge Manager & TLAP
11 days ago – Fri, Sep 04, 2026 at 12:46:34 PM

Ahoy!

Zac here with Limithron. Just a quick update to let you know where we're at, what's been done, and new stuff happening in our world.

Kickstarter/Backerkit

If you missed the Kickstarter, the pre-order shop on Backerkit is already live! https://pirate-map-collection.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

The Pledge Manager is also coming along well. There's a couple of new features over there that will make all of our lives a little bit better, and I'm adding some add-ons that weren't available in the Kickstarter.

Here's what you're walking into...

Early-Bird & Boarding Party Rewards. There's a new tool that we haven't used before that should make assigning these special reward items to their correct people a breeze. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if a few people get lost in the shuffle.

If that turns out to be you, fill out this form, and I'll get it sorted within a few days.

DriveThruRPG Digital Fulfillment. This new integration allows us to send you the DriveThru files directly through Backerkit. Once you've completed your survey, and your order is locked, the items will be automatically added to your DriveThruRPG library and you'll get an email notification. If you don't already have a DriveThru account, you'll get an email prompting that.

If you use an email for Kickstarter that's different than the email you use for DriveThru, you can scroll down in the DriveThru notification email, and at the bottom there's an option to merge the items into your existing account.

This is a relatively new feature that may have some bugs, but I think the end result will get you (a) faster digital delivery, and (b) cut through the clutter that sometimes clogs Backerkit's downloads.

New Add-on Items. I've added quite a bit! I won't go through all of them here, but basically you should look for:

  • A lot of additional VTT and digital map support/deals!
  • A few FREE PIRATE BORG PDFs!
  • A lot more PIRATE BORG add-on items that weren't available in the campaign.

We're still about a week from launching the Pledge Manager, but some of you may get a smoke test invite in the coming days.

Talk Like a Pirate Day/Week

Elsewhere in the world of Limithron, we're 2 weeks out from TLAP Day, which has basically become our annual holiday. Over on the Limithron Patreon, we just dropped Parrot Borg, our newest adventure where you play as the parrot pets of your regular crew.

You'll be crossing beaks with evil toucans, going claw-to-talon against fruit bats, and earning bonus points for dealing "Mega Poo" damage to some good-for-nothing soldiers! (all real)

You can get the adventure in few ways, including for FREE!

  • Subscribe to the Patreon at any paid level. You'll get Parrot Borg, plus all of our back catalogue of maps and material.
  • Pick it up physically at participating game stores. Right now, the print is exclusively available through your FLGS, so let them know you want a copy! They can hit Quartermaster Tyler up at [email protected].
  • Get a FREE download by signing up to run a game. Run a game at your local shop, school, library, any other public place, or on a live-stream any time between September 14th and 20th. Submit the game to our event calendar, and Tyler will kick you out a free copy!

He's also put together two videos to help you prep (see below), so there's no excuse and plenty to lose! Get out there and make it happen!

Dark Caribbean Side-Note

Speaking of the Patreon, Luke also just dropped a big Dark Caribbean preview with loads of new content like reworked Reputation rules, Renown rules, enhanced Reaction rules, a new Crew Sheet, a Faction Overview, a first draft of the expanded History and Major Events section, and full draft entries for Anne Bonny, Calico Jack, Admiral Morgan, the Flail, Captain Marrow, and the BBEG Awilix, the Lich-Queen of the Yucatan!

It's too much, honestly. More than a man can handle.

Ship of the Dead Podcast

Kinda-sorta finally, we're coming to the end of this season of the Ship of the Dead Podcast, but there's still a few episodes in the tank!

Recently, we've kicked out episodes with Isaac (Mausritter) and Andre (Flail RPG), and before that Jacob (Sword Fish Islands) and Luka (Our Golden Age), which you can watch/listen to right now, and we've saved one of the best for one of the last, as next week we're dropping our chat with Johan Nohr (MÖRK BORG) and Tania Herrero (Fomoria RPG), which our entire crew found to be absolutely inspiring.

Wrap-Up

Next month, we're headed to GameHole Con, which is perhaps my personal favorite convention, but you can also use our new event finder to see what games are being played near you!

Expect another update in October or perhaps before.

PROJECTS WE LOVE

Wrath of a Thousand Suns | Thomas (designer on Cabin Fever and BËNTHIC: The Scattered Seafloor) has 6 days left in his newest PIRATE BORG-compatible project, and this one looks slick: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thomasz/wrath-of-a-thousand-suns-a-funnel-crawl-for-pirate-borg

LAST DAY + GEN CON
about 1 month ago – Mon, Aug 03, 2026 at 11:21:43 AM

Ahoy from the road back from Gen Con!

Zac here. We're in the last day, the final hours, past the remaining stretch goal, and on the home stretch.

While you've been pushing all this forward, we've been running games, slinging books, rolling dice, and doing our best to talk like a pirate all week without losing our voices (and failing).

Several big milestones were achieved at the show:

  • 200+ Event Tables (the 6th most ran TTRPG at the convention), with over 40 Harbourmasters telling stories from throughout the Dark Caribbean. More events than we've ever done at a show by a significant margin.

Our game room was packed with players from dawn to well past dusk, with 14 tables running back-to-back games on Thursday-Sunday. It was epic!
  • Speaking of epic, ourBrethren's Plunder 14-Table Epic was insane. We did a trial run at a smaller scale at GaryCon earlier in the year, but this was the full shebang, with oversized 28mm-scale naval combat, a multi-part siege/raid, prison breaks, captured forts, and an unforgettable appearance from Captain Marrow himself.

Add to it the two nights of the Into the Maelstrom 8-Table Tournament, which pits individual crews trying to tackle a monstrous vampirate ship, stop a ritual, rescue prisoners, and plunder silver in vast enough quantities to secure the highest score.

Many of these events used maps from this Kickstarter, plus we had copies of lots of Westfalia's new minis at the booth, and a preview copy of From the Depths Below and the Map Collection box on display.

Our seasoned sales crew (Simon, Will, Fen)
  • Elsewhere at the show, we had the schooner-version of our booth—small, but still large enough to have a cargo hold filled with all our titles, over a dozen 3rd-party Pirate Borg books and zines, and a whole trove of Mothership RPG releases that were all packed in so tightly they threatened to spill over the sides.

Attendees also got opportunities to secure some of the final copies of our Free RPG Day zine Terror in Tortuga, a con-exclusive printing of my Shark Week scenario Bonefin, and a preview tease of our upcoming release: Parrot Borg!
On Patreon and Coming Soon for Talk Like a Pirate Day
  • Add to all that, Luke participated in the first actual play of Joe Manganiello's new D&D setting, Death Saves: The Blood War (which you can actually watch down below), Luke's annual Birthday Party hangout, getting our hands on the French translation of PIRATE BORGfrom our friends at Arkhane Asylum(!), and this show turned out to be one for the record books and the ages.

All that to say, we've been really, really busy this past week, so we appreciate you being patient with us, continuing to support this project, and (for those of you who met us at the show) letting us know in person how excited you are for all this nonsense.

We're excited to get back home and into it.

LAST WEEK, UNLOCKS, & FINAL STRETCH GOAL REVEALED!
about 2 months ago – Mon, Jul 27, 2026 at 06:54:02 AM

Ahoy!

Zac here, and we're in the FINAL WEEK!

You rolled through our $190k goal, unlocking a new mini-dungeon tied to the huge Atlantean Dungeon map we've got in the Map Collection.

Personally, I'm excited about this one because it's one of the first true times we're diving into this corner of the Dark Caribbean! We haven't revealed much about what's going on over in Atlantis, so this will be a fun reveal for long-time fans of the setting.

FINAL STRETCH GOAL

We're in the endgame now, so it seems fitting that we should conclude with printed ENDPAPERS. This is something we've done on some of our other books in the past (dropping some examples down below), and we usually fill them with handy tables, maps, or other useful, oft-referenced items.

With the Encounter Atlas, we want to heighten the connection between it and the maps. So, if we can hit this goal (I think we can), Luke, Tyler, and I will be building out a set of adventure generators

These will pull in references to some of the maps that are already featured in the Encounter Atlas' locations, but we'll also make mention of plenty of the others, giving you a lot of inspiration for new ways to get all the papers to the table.

This is Gen Con week, so we'll be running ragged in Indianapolis in these final few days, but thanks again for helping us plow through another campaign. Your support really helps drive us forward in a big way.

Zac & The Limithron Crew

3RD-PARTY PIRATES

Shadowdark Triple Feature

Oh, and hey, you know that handsome devil we've had writing the Encounter Atlas, Joseph R. Lewis? The one we call the greatest living adventure designer?

He's got about a day left on his own SideQuest Kickstarter project. You know what to do: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/josephrlewis/shadowdark-triple-feature?ref=e06e38

$182k = More Stickers Unlocked!
about 2 months ago – Thu, Jul 23, 2026 at 10:46:55 AM

Ahoy!

Has it only been 1 day? We'll keep this one short then.

  • UNLOCKED: $182k | 2 More Sticker Sheets (Bones, Skeletons, Rock Debris, Palm Trees, & More) added to the Map Collection.

This will be the last Sticker Sheet stretch goal. You've given us a lot of other sticker ideas to ponder (fire, ship damage, etc.), and some folks in the comments suggested we turn the sheets into a booklet instead, but we now have 10 sheets that we're committing to, and we want to see how all that ends up looking before we decide on more.

Who knows? We might end up doing another box, more maps, or a sticker pack in the future too.

Up next is a second dungeon for the Encounter Atlas, and then I think we have time for another goal or two before the end...
